Specialist Consultations
Sometimes, the heartburn or bloating that’s been bothering you isn’t just a simple issue. Sometimes the cause might be something more. If the initial treatment you were prescribed doesn’t seem to be working, or if signs point to something more extensive, your family doctor may refer you to a practitioner that specializes in gastroenterology.Â
Gastroenterology is a branch of medicine that specifically deals with illnesses which affect the organs along your gastrointestinal tract. These organs include the esophagus, stomach, small bowels, colon, rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts, pancreas, and liver. To become certified in this area, doctors may receive an extra few years of training, receiving knowledge and experience on treating digestive disease. Our clinic has three doctors who are certified in gastroenterology.
At our clinic, we are experienced in treating conditions such as including inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis), irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease, gastric ulcers, stubborn cases gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and gastrointestinal cancers such as stomach and colon cancer. If you feel that you’ve been affected by one of these diseases, you can speak to your family doctor about getting a referral to come see us.Â
